PartyPoker was one of the largest online poker rooms until 2006. Worldwide, partypoker still holds the title as one of the largest online poker rooms.

Here in the United States, partypoker forms a network with sister sites, BetMGM Poker and Borgata Poker Online in New Jersey. My expert review covers all the aspects of this legal online poker room, like most importantly, the welcome bonus offer plus covering the wide variety of multi-table tournaments and other poker games.

Much Improved Poker Experience
Partypoker already has brand recognition and awareness. Yet, the partypoker network still is third amongst some of the bigger NJ online poker rooms. On the other hand, you do get the combined player pool between BetMGM and Borgata Poker. Plus, significant improvements to the old software make this online poker room not one to miss.

Partypoker Welcome Bonus

As a new poker player to partypoker NJ, make your first real money deposit and receive a deposit match bonus! The PartyPoker NJ deposit bonus matches your first deposit up to $600.

Additionally, partypoker NJ claims to have the “easiest bonus to clear in New Jersey” along with “getting half of all your fees back in cash!” Remember that the bonus releases in 10 equal chunks.

How to Claim

  1. Sign-up, create, and register your new player account at partypoker NJ.
  2. Now, download either the desktop client or mobile app.
  3. Make your first real-money deposit, and it will be matched up to $600!

Bonus Terms

  • Bonus releases in 10% increments or equal parts.
  • Every 4 points collected playing poker or 8 points with casino games earns $1 towards releasing the bonus.
  • A minimum deposit of $10 to qualify for the bonus.
  • The maximum amount of the bonus is $600.
  • Sixty days from the first deposit to release the bonus.
  • Casino games also count towards bonus release eligibility.

How to Release the partypoker Bonus

With partypoker NJ, a vital bonus term and condition is that you don't just have to release the bonus through real-money poker only. You can also play casino games, which are eligible to clear the bonus.

Your deposit match bonus releases in 10 equal parts. If you are clearing the bonus through poker games, 4 points equal $1 in releasing the bonus. However, if you are playing casino games, you need 8 points earned for $1 in bonus. Therefore, my suggestion is to play cash poker games to release the bonus.

Ongoing Promotions

There are a few ongoing promotions at partypoker NJ. The special tournament series, such as the partypoker US Network, boosts the standard prize guarantees.

Typically, an ongoing poker promotion is the Weekly Sit & Go Leaderboards. Win additional tournament dollars by playing in Sit & Gos mainly, the six-max format.

The High Leaderboard typically awards $1500 in additional prizes, and the Low Leaderboard awards $500 in prizes. First place in the High Leaderboard awards an additional $300 in Tournament Dollars, and the winner of the Low Leaderboard receives $100 in Tournament Dollars.

The leaderboards' calculations are based on how much you win, and points are awarded based on those calculations. Finally, keep in mind that this is a network promotion, which means that players at BetMGM and Borgata Poker are also eligible.

Poker Games at PartyPoker

Not all poker games or online poker rooms are created equally. There's a difference here between either tournaments, cash games, or sit-n-gos. Depending on what you like, PartyPoker has many varieties and options. Without further ado, I invite you to join me as we explore the poker games at PartyPoker.

Multi-table Tournaments

Multi-table tournaments are the game, and PartyPoker is here to shine. The reason for PartyPoker's strength in tournament schedule is because the online poker room shares a player pool with BetMGM Poker NJ and Borgata Poker NJ. Traditionally speaking, Sunday is the biggest day for online tournaments for all online poker rooms. Yet, PartyPoker still offers daily tournaments along with two special Mega tournaments during the week as well.

Tournament NameStart Day and TimeBuy-in
Daily $10kDaily from 7 pm ET$109
Daily $3kDaily from 7:30 pm ET$55
Daily $3k TurboDaily from 9:30 pm ET$215
Mega Tuesday $12kTuesday from 8:00 pm ET$535
Mega Thursday $7.5kThursday from 8:00 pm ET$320
Sunday Starter $3kSunday from 4 pm ET$55
Sunday $35kSunday at 5 pm ET$215

With over 70 daily tournaments, there's something for everyone, even if you are a night owl. In this case, as someone looking for multi-table tournaments to play, there is no reason not to try out PartyPoker NJ.

Sunday $35k Tournament

Also known as the Network Sunday $35k, you join in with other players from Borgata and BetMGM. Throughout a calendar year, this tournament is often boosted in guarantees. Additionally, freerolls, satellites, and qualifiers will usually run for each Sunday $35k.

Remember that this is a re-entry tournament. This means that if you bust during the registration period, which lasts up to Level 15, you can re-enter.

Sunday Major Comparison

Poker RoomMTT NameBuy-inGuarantee
Party Poker LogoPartyPokerSunday $35k$215$35,000
WSOP$100k Sunday$320$100,000
PokerStars NJ LogoPokerStarsSunday Special$200$40,000

Although PartyPoker appears to have the smallest guarantee, it doesn't mean that you should just write off this online poker room. The addition of BetMGM and Borgata players theoretically should make the tournament bigger, but the PartyPoker network does have the smallest player pool of the three.

However, with BetMGM setting goals for expansion and depending on the Wire Act litigation, it could be that the PartyPoker network grows. In this case, I would like to make another Sunday Major comparison in the future to determine if my expectations are correct.

Cash Games

Overall, the consensus amongst poker players not just in the US but internationally is that cash games are dying. The same sentiment holds across the PartyPoker network.

Yet, there is a nice spread of stakes from as little as $0.01/$0.02. Stakes do run up to $25/$50; however, it is rare to see games running this high outside of the occasional heads-up table.

Hold'em, particularly no limit hold'em, is the preference of most poker players. Therefore, if you stick to no limit hold'em cash games, it is much easier to find active tables running. However, if you insist on playing limit or fixed-limit hold 'em games, look for these at the micro-stakes. Although, be aware that you may not find opponents to play even during active and high traffic hours.

No-limit hold'em typically runs up to $1/$2 during evening or peak traffic times. Higher stakes look for them to run during special online series where player traffic is even higher than average.

Notably, Omaha is picking up in popularity but still not as widely known as no-limit hold'em. Finding a table proves to be difficult overall. On the other hand, there is typically one active table at micro-stakes running during high traffic hours.

Although Stud is available at PartyPoker, you'd be fortunate even to find one table running. Notably, most players tend to shy away from it, as it appears to be the least popular form of cash game poker types available.

If you're looking for something different that includes no waiting, fastForward by PartyPoker may be just the answer for you. Once you fold your hand, you are immediately transported to a new table with new opponents and a new hand. Therefore, you don't need to wait for the remainder of the hand to play out.

Unfortunately, if you are looking to play fastForward, you may be waiting for a while or forever. fastForward rarely ever runs, possibly due to the player pool just being small.

If you're looking to play a tournament but dislike the time commitment or the cost, you can try a sit-n-go (SnG) instead. PartyPoker NJ offers sit-n-gos for as little as $1 and as high as $500 to buy-in.

Choose between heads-up, 6-max, or ten players. Note that the 6 or 10 player format runs for up to an hour. Also, stakes run from as small as $1 and as high as $500. Ultimately, SnGs at lower stakes fill more quickly. If you are looking for higher stakes SnGs, try heads-up instead, where you are more likely to find an opponent.

PartyPoker Mobile App

The partypoker NJ mobile app is available for Android and iOS devices. Mainly, I noted how aesthetically pleasing the lobby is after the recent upgrades. Also, the mobile app translates well from desktop client play.

A significant upside to the mobile app is the additional features that partypoker added. In detail, you can now send emoticons to opponents, such as throwing eggs to display your reactions. Rabbit Hunt is also available on mobile, along with quickly pulling hand histories from the replayer.

Best of all, the partypoker mobile app allows you to multi-table quickly, considering you are limited in screen space on a mobile device. Best suited for switching between two tables, you swipe your screen to switch between active tables. There is also a bar at the top to indicate your hand and a progress bar to ensure you do not time out.

All in all, the partypoker mobile app is vastly improved and continuously tweaked or updated to ensure stability.

How to Download

  1. Head to the partypoker NJ website via your mobile device's web browser.
  2. Click the ‘Download' tab. The website automatically detects if using an Android or iOS device.
  3. Follow the directions to accept the download. For Android devices, you may need to allow downloads from ‘Unknown Sources.'
  4. Launch the partypoker mobile app when finished to sign-in.

Desktop Client Interface

Previously, partypoker internationally suffered from a lack of software updates, which, of course, affected the software on the US platforms as well. More recently, as of 2019, there is a notable improvement in stability and less crashing. In detail, the software client would sometimes completely disappear and would then restart randomly during sessions.

Additionally, not only has software stability improved, but partypoker is consistently adding new features. For example, in March 2020, Diamond and Rabbit Hunt were unveiled. These features allow you to see the flop, turn, and river cards' outcome if the hand was played to completion. Also, both players must now post an equal number of big blinds before leaving a heads-up table to promote player fairness.

Payment Methods and Withdrawal Limits

You've got the pick of the litter when it comes to payment methods at PartyPoker NJ. Moreover, this shouldn't be a surprise either that BetMGM and Borgata also offer the same payment methods. Note that there is a minimum deposit of $10 with all methods.

For withdrawals, it logically follows that there are not as many options available. Nonetheless, the partypoker US network does not have any pre-set limits on withdrawals, which is excellent.

The Party Play+ prepaid card is easy to sign up directly in your Party account and the Deposit section. A quick and easy way to cash out, you can manage your money along with using the card anywhere Discover cards are accepted.

Overview of partypoker in the US

Before partypoker launched in New Jersey, people may remember the previous meteoric rise to fame during online poker's first boom. In fact, here in the United States, partypoker is heavily advertised throughout multiple media channels and online. Creating a vast brand following, partypoker's exit from the US came as a surprise to most.

In reality, what occurred was the passage of the Unauthorized Internet Gambling Enforcement Act or the UIGEA for short. As a result, partypoker decided to cease operations in the US voluntarily. Thus, this is the reason why partypoker was approved to launch in the Garden State when online gambling became legal in Nov. 2013.

There is a possibility that the partypoker online brand is launched in Pennsylvania. To explain, BetMGM is the online arm of MGM Resorts International. In partnership with GVC Holdings, the parent company of partypoker, MGM Resorts, formed Roar Digital. Consequently, Roar Digital and BetMGM received approval in the Keystone State for an interactive gaming license.

Although you may not see the partypoker brand elsewhere, BetMGM is already available in:

  • Nevada
  • Colorado
  • New Jersey
  • Indiana
  • West Virginia
  • Indiana

Also, Michigan may be the next up for online poker. On the other hand, due to the pending Wire Act litigation, player pools may not combine despite online poker launching in other states.

Responsible Gambling

At PartyPoker NJ, players have access to tools to support responsible gaming. Set your own daily, weekly, or monthly limits. These limits can apply to deposits, wagers, or players to participate in a time management program. With time management, you can limit your time allotted at partypoker.

Remember that whenever you set a limit that it is effective immediately. However, if you are looking to increase your limit, your request can only be valid after a delay and additional confirmation. Finally, you can suspend your account from 3 to 180 days. For the most severe exclusion, you can head into the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement offices to exclude yourself from all gambling operators in New Jersey.

If you need more help regarding responsible gambling at partypoker NJ, email [email protected].

partypoker Loyalty and Rewards Program

Unlike sister sites BetMGM and Borgata at PartyPoker, it does not seem to be a part of the M life Tier Rewards. Regardless, you do earn points through a loyalty program. Here is how the partypoker loyalty and rewards program works:

  1. As you play real-money poker, you earn points.
  2. Move up through Loyalty Levels.
  3. Cash in for rewards through tournament tickets or money back in the points store.

Every calendar month, earn the minimum required points to either attain or retain your loyalty level. Earn two partypoker points for each $1 contributed either in tournament fees or raked cash game hands.

24/7 Customer Service

At the top navigation bar, there is a ‘? Help & Contact’ icon. Clicking on it takes you to the partypoker FAQ section, where you can find answers to many common questions and concerns.

Overall, the FAQ section is quite extensive and definitely should be your first stop before proceeding to Live Chat. However, note that if your account is experiencing more complicated issues relating to withdrawals or software crashing, it does take customer support time to investigate. Therefore, expect to wait a few days for specific problems.

Final Verdict

Partypoker truly has made significant improvements in recent months. Additionally, you already have the worldwide brand awareness of partypoker. You can also clear the welcome bonus in two ways: either playing online poker or casino games. Finally, the special tournament series that partypoker US Network runs in conjunction with BetMGM and Borgata Poker makes playing partypoker worthwhile.
