Tioga Downs Racino

Tioga Downs Racino is a county fair themed, standard- bred racetrack and racino, which is located in Nochols, New York. The property is housed on a 138 acre site. Tioga Downs was originally opened as a quarter-horse track known as Tioga Park in 1976. Unfortunately, the company failed to stay in the black and had to be closed down the facility in 1978. After several years of widespread lobbying efforts to bring Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs) to racetracks, in 2005, they were approved. Shortly after, the racetrack was purchased by a real estate developer, who held a ground breaking ceremony on the 22nd of July 2005, for the next phase of the racetrack’s life.

On the 9th of June 2006, Tioga Downs opened to the public, offering them harness racing, simulcast betting, and more than 800 VLTs. The property had also added two bars, a number of eateries and a banquet room, along with a stage area to host concerts. In October, 2015, the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board gave permission for Tioga Downs to pursue a license that will allow for the expansion of their facilities. This included a three story parking garage complex, a 136 room hotel, an event centre, and an expanded gaming floor, including a poker room.
